Who did you fly with?
Easyjet

Did you get any connecting transport from the airport?
I flew down from Inverness Airport to London Gatwick the night before as my flight was early the next day, then flew into Crete. 

How was the journey?
The journey was good, I got picked up and dropped off by a private transfer to and from the hotel to the airport

Hotels

Where did you stay?
We stayed at the stunning 5-star Abaton Island Resort & Spa, Crete. Located on a stretch of coastline with uninterrupted sea views, this hotel is ideal if you are seeking style and substance. There is also a magnificent spa and a variety of restaurants to stir your senses, offering everything from fine sushi, to a diverse selection of international cuisine and local Greek specialties. 

Were there any special features?
I stayed in the luxury guest room with a private outdoor jacuzzi and breathtaking sea views. 

What was your stay like? Did you enjoy it?
It was amazing I had a huge big bed, complimentary wine and fruit in the room with a nightly turn-down service and complimentary Elemis toiletries. It was very luxurious

Any recommendations?
The breakfast at the Abaton was so good, I had poached eggs with avocado on sourdough toast, it was delicious! I also highly recommend their beautiful white sangria.

Activities

Where did you go?
We visited the Lyrakis family-run olive oil mill and I purchased some olive oil. Lyrakis Family was founded in 1975. From the old olive oil workshop to the present day, the Lyrakis Family focused on quality has excellent virgin olive oil. Their family has been producing olive oil for three generations!

What did you see/do?
Murray Travel was invited out to attend the Classic Collection Award ceremony and to celebrate their 35th Birthday.
The first two nights we had pre-dinner drinks in the Royal Villa and while at dinner we had a fantastic live singer, on the second day we attended a Classic conference session and then had a hotelier showcase which had a speed dating 10-minute session with each hotelier.

On day three we enjoyed the day trip out to the Olive Oil Factory and visited the Grecotel Amirandes Boutique Resort in Gouves and had lunch there, another highly recommended hotel to visit. During the night we attended the Classic Awards in the Amphitheatre where Murray Travel won Best Newcomer, the awards also had a Cretan band and dancers, followed by a fabulous Gala Dinner.

Did you learn any fun facts or see anything exciting?
Crete is the largest Greek Island and also the known birthplace of Zeus and has the oldest olive trees in the World

What was the weather like?
Sunny with a bit of wind, wasn’t really out in it much

Food/Drinks

What did you enjoy eating/drinking?
Greek Salad, Rose Wine and White Sangria

Would you recommend this holiday and who to?
Definitely would recommend this hotel for couples and honeymooners for total relaxation and chill
