Journey there

Who did you fly with?
British Airways

Did you get any connecting transport from the airport?
We flew from Inverness Airport to Heathrow and then connected from Heathrow to Barbados Airport. Once we landed in Barbados we got a minibus transfer from the airport to the Sea Breeze Beach House.

How was the journey?
Okay, we flew in economy on all flights and on return the flight back from Barbados was completely full.

Hotels

Where did you stay?
We stayed for three nights at the stunning Sea Breeze Beach House and then for two nights at the O2 Beach Club & Spa

Were there any special features?
O2 Beach Club & Spa had an amazing spa, an airconditioned (unusual in Barbados) fine dining restaurant and a lovely rooftop pool/tapas bar/restaurant. It also had swim-up rooms

What was your stay like? Did you enjoy it?
I really enjoyed both hotels – very laid back and both on beaches

Did you receive any special service/treatment?
We had upgraded rooms with sea views in both hotels and in the O2 Beach Club & Spa the concierge who checked me in and showed me to my room knew me by first name any time I saw him after that short introduction – very impressive!

Any recommendations?
Breakfast omelettes were fabulous at both hotels. Would definitely recommend ocean/sea view rooms at both properties

Activities

Where did you go?
Harrison’s Cave ECO Adventure Park, Cool Runnings Catamaran Cruise, Oistins Fish Fry and The Great House Barbados

What did you see/do?
We did a tour of Harrison’s Cave, a half-day catamaran cruise with lunch and drinks included and you could get off to snorkel and swim in the blue sea. We also spent the last morning at 12 12-bedroom villa – The Great House which was fabulous. During the holiday we attended the 70th Anniversary celebration of British Airways flying for 70 years to Barbados from the UK – it took place on the grounds of the Prime Minister of Barbados, about 300 people were there including Sir Cliff Richard!

Did you learn any fun facts or see anything exciting?
The British Airways evening and visit to The Great House were my highlights

What was the weather like?
Very hot it was about 25-32 degrees every day and night

Any recommendations?
I definitely recommend Harrison’s Cave ECO Adventure Park and the Cool Runnings Catamaran Cruise. If clients are in Barbados on a Friday night I’d recommend they go to Oistins Fish Fry for an authentic Bajan experience – basically a street party with lots of bars/food stalls and music/dancing. Great even for an hour or so of people watching.

Food/Drinks

Did you go to any local restaurants/cafes?
We went for lunch at Zemi East Coast Cafe in Bathsheba. Amazing food and lovely spot overlooking beach/sea on the rugged East Coast of the island. Lots of locals there too which is always a good sign. And, of course, Oistins Fish Fry – we didn’t eat there but there were lots of food stalls and it was really busy with locals and tourists alike

What did you enjoy eating/drinking?
Ate lots of delicious fish dishes, fish tacos at Fairmont Royal Pavillion and they were amazing. Lots of cocktails – all of which were lovely Did you try any new dishes? What did you think of it? Lots of fish dishes – all great.

Did you go to any quirky places for food/drinks?
Zemi East Coast Cafe and Oistins Fish Fry

Any recommendations?
Both of the above

Conclusion

Would you recommend this holiday and who to?
Honeymooners or couples more than families although there was quite a lot of families at the Sea Breeze Beach House Hotel
