Prepare your taste buds for a culinary odyssey as Alistair and Susan sample tantalising Canarian cuisine, from succulent seafood paella to mouthwatering mojo sauces. Don't forget to savour the island's famous wines and refreshing cocktails as the sun sets in a blaze of colours over the Atlantic Ocean.

Journey there 

Who did you fly with?
Jet 2 from Edinburgh airport

Did you get any connecting transport from the airport?
Kirker Travel had arranged a private transfer for us and our tour guide Dario also met us at the airport and was on the transfer 

How was the journey?
Good, Dario was helpful with pointing out sights along the way and the journey was about an hour and a half long

Did anything memorable happen?
We stopped at a local restaurant El Cordero and had a delicious traditional Canarian lunch

Where did you stay? 
Hotel Botanico & Oriental Spa Garden in Puerto de la Cruz 

Were there any special features? 
Stunning gardens with ponds and black swans. They also had a very large spa area. My room had a stunning view of Mount Teide 

What was your stay like? Did you enjoy it?
Rooms very spacious and comfortable beds 

Any recommendations? 
Breakfast was very good, they had lots of choices including a fresh honeycomb board which was delicious!

Where did you go?
We went star gazing up Mount Teide which was beautiful, we also got a walking tour of Laurel Forest in the Anaga Rural Park. Visited a banana Plantation and enjoyed a wine Tour of the Monje Winery 

Did you learn any fun facts or see anything exciting?
There are 320 Volcanoes on the island of Tenerife with the last one erupting in 1909. We also saw the oldest dragon tree in the Canary Islands found in El Drago Milenario

What was the weather like?
The weather was nice and warm with the highest around 21 degrees

Did you go to any local restaurants/cafes?
We visited, Restaurante Regulo in Puerto de la Cruz 

What did you enjoy eating/drinking?
The Canarian Potatoes with Mojo Sauce and the Wine from the Winery we visited 

Did you go to any quirky places for food/drinks?
We visited a wine museum called Museo de Malvasia where we got to make our own Mojo sauce and enjoy a wine tasting.

Would you recommend this holiday and who to? 
I would recommend this holiday to people who are looking for something a bit different and want to see the cultural side of Tenerife and get away from the tourist areas.
