New York City's Best Views: A Guide to the City's Most Scenic Spots

Travel TipsActivitiesInspiration

There's no better way to experience the beauty and excitement of New York City than by taking in the view from one of its many scenic spots.

Whether you're looking for sweeping views of the skyline or intimate glimpses of Central Park, these are some of the best viewpoints in NYC.

Empire State Building

The Empire State Building is an iconic sight on the New York City skyline. Recently benefitting from an extensive redevelopment, the attraction offers visitors new interactive exhibits and a revamped observatory. Located on the 102nd floor, the observatory offers stunning 360-degree views of the city. Visitors can also uncover the rich history of the building through exhibits located throughout the attraction. On their way to the top, visitors can also take a selfie with king kong, making the Empire State Building a must-see for any New York City itinerary.

Central Park

Central Park is one of the most popular tourist destinations in New York City. And for good reason - the park is massive, filled with beautiful architecture, and home to some of the city's most iconic landmarks. One of the best ways to see Central Park is from a horse-drawn carriage. Not only is it a relaxing way to experience the park, but you'll also get an expert driver who can point out all of the highlights. And, of course, the horses are well-cared for too - they even get regular holidays in the countryside! So if you're looking for a unique and enjoyable way to see Central Park, be sure to hop aboard a horse-drawn carriage.

SUMMIT One Vanderbilt

The SUMMIT is one of the best ways to experience the city views. From the moment you step in, you are met with a breathtaking view of the skyline that is only made better by the mirror-lined rooms. The art installations by Yayoi Kusama and Kenzo Digital add an extra layer of immersion that makes the experience all the more unique. After taking in the views, be sure to head to the rooftop bar, APRES. The SUMMIT is an unforgettable experience that is not to be missed.

Edge

Situated on the Hudson River in Manhattan, the Edge observation deck offers truly breathtaking views of New York City. At 1,100 feet high, it is the highest open-air observation deck in the Western Hemisphere, and visitors can enjoy unobstructed panoramas of the cityscape from its glass-enclosed walls. For those feeling particularly brave, there is also the option to scale the building's crown with City Climb - the highest open-air building ascent in the world. Afterwards, guests can relax and refuel at one of Hudson Yard's many eateries or bars, including the Champagne Bar. With its stunning views and range of activities, Edge is sure to provide an unforgettable experience for all who visit.

The High Line

The High Line is a meandering elevated rail line that has been repurposed into a public park. Stretching from Gansevoort Street to 34th Street, the High Line offers visitors a unique opportunity to experience New York City from a new perspective. Along the way, you will catch glimpses of various sightlines, juxtaposed against Piet Oudolf's expertly-curated selection of grasses, flowers and trees - all chosen to encourage birds and insects to flourish. If it weren't for the surrounding skyscrapers it would be easy to forget you are still in the city. The High Line is a must-see for anyone visiting New York City.

Brooklyn Bridge Park

There's no better way to enjoy a sunny day in New York City than by picnicking along the waterfront in Brooklyn Bridge Park. This park, which spans over 85 acres, offers stunning views of the skyline and the East River. And what could be more perfect than enjoying a lobster roll from Lukes Lobster while taking in the sights? Lukes Lobster is based just under the Brooklyn Bridge, so it's the perfect place to grab a quick bite before exploring the park. There are plenty of activities to keep you busy, from cycling and roller skating to kayaking and canoeing. And if you're looking for a completely different perspective, you can even take a ride on the ferry to Governors Island. So whether you're looking to relax and take in the scenery or get active and explore all that Brooklyn Bridge Park has to offer, a visit here is sure to please.
