Join Carla on her captivating trip in St. Lucia! From the lush marina views to the steep tropical hills, explore her journey through this Caribbean paradise...
Who did you fly with?
British Airways from Gatwick. As we were travelling as a group, we had to go to the desk instead of doing online check in and bag drop. Check in was very busy, and took a long time, thankfully security was quiet so could zip through there!
Did you get any connecting transport from the airport?
We had a private transfer on arrival arranged by the hotel.
How was the journey?
The flight was delayed leaving but overall good on board service and food, didn’t feel as long as was anticipating!
Did anything memorable happen?
St Lucia airport is very small so took no time to do immigration as we were the only plane in! Because our flight was a couple of hours late arriving, we timed it perfectly for amazing views of the sunset over Marigot Bay.
Where did you stay?
Zoetry Marigot Bay
Were there any special features?
It's not your typical beachfront Caribbean hotel, it has a tropical hillside location with views over the beautiful marina. There’s a boardwalk to Marina Village where there is Coco Cafe and restaurants (included in your all inclusive and open to the public), shops and you can catch the little boat to take you across the bay to a small beach.
What was your stay like? Did you enjoy it?
Very relaxing! Despite the hotel being nearly full, it never felt busy or crowded. They have an app that you can see the daily activities which helps you make the most of your stay.
Did you receive any special service/treatment?
We had a welcome dinner hosted by the hotel with local entertainment.
Any recommendations?
An affogato from Coco Cafe with coconut ice cream! Also the sushi and food from Le Bateau was so fresh and tasty, perfect lunch for a hot day.
Where did you go?
We went zip lining through the rainforest, they also have an aerial tram through the canopy for a more chilled experience. We also arranged a trip up to Castries, the capital, to visit the markets.
What did you see/do?
Plenty! With the app you can see all the included activities each day. I managed to fit in yoga, a cooking class, rum tasting, catch of the day (a demo of how to fillet freshly landed tuna and make ceviche), and a sunset cruise. I always try to get out for a run whenever I’m away, managed a couple of runs including a 5k despite the humidity and steep St Lucian hills!!
Did you learn any fun facts or see anything exciting?
Although a long history of rum making, they no longer grow sugar cane on the island, molasses gets shipped in from Guyana before starting the rum process.
What was the weather like?
Hot and humid but beautiful.
Any recommendations?
Try the activities! Morning yoga with Jay was just what I needed after my run. The cooking class and catch of the day with Chef K were great hands on experiences and a chance to learn more about the local culture. Also take the little boat across to LaBas beach.
Did you go to any local restaurants/cafes?
As we were hosted by Zoetry, we were able to try the five different restaurants on offer at the hotel. The food was exceptional with a choice of international with a local twist, Caribbean inspired, Med/Asian fusion, and I’ve already mentioned the amazing sushi!
What did you enjoy eating/drinking?
Coco Cafe for my coffee fix as well as pastries the size of your head!
Did you try any new dishes? What did you think of it?
Floats which are a type of fried bake that are simple but very moreish.
Did you go to any quirky places for food/drinks?
A freshly cracked coconut with a splash of rum on the beach was perfect on the last day.
Any recommendations?
Try everything! And you can as part of the Endless Privileges, even from the comfort of your room.
Would you recommend this holiday and who to?
I would definitely recommend Zoetry Marigot Bay for those looking for a slightly different Caribbean vibe with the lush marina location and focus on island life activities. You can be as active or as relaxed as you’d like and have the option to go out to explore the island. Children are allowed but the focus is definitely more towards adults so it would be an ideal honeymoon destination and for couples of all ages.
